Fall weather has officially arrived on Grounds at UVA! The chillier temperature and crisp Autumn weather makes me want to crawl into bed and watch movies all day; unfortunately, this is not possible since classes are in full force, and midterms are right around the corner. Warm, oversized knits are the solution to feeling cozy this fall on days when you want to just drop everything and snuggle in bed, but can’t. For me, knits in the fall are a major staple, especially oversized sweaters and chunky scarves. They are extremely comfortable and make me feel warm in class and the library, which is always amazing.
Knits, overall, are extremely versatile and can be worn in a number of different ways. They are the perfect solution when you don’t feel like putting together an outfit and still want to look stylish on Grounds. Pair an oversized knit sweater with a pair of skinny jeans and classic oxfords or wear a chic black knit cardigan, black jeans and boots, with an oversized knit scarf for texture. Either way, they always complete an awesome outfit!
I caught this Fashionista hanging out on the Lawn over the weekend. She looked very relaxed but stylish on such a beautiful day. She wore her chunky knit sweater with jeans and lace-up booties. I loved the bright blue of her knit because it is an electric color that fits this season perfectly. She clearly stood out from the average T-shirt and leggings outfit that often frequent UVA. I loved her take on the weekend outfit.
It’s easy to be comfy and stylish with knits; throw on a knit sweater and keep it simple for all day comfort.
One Simple Change: Wear a knit sweater over a skirt to turn the outfit from casual to more dressy. Though the look won’t be completely formal, a skirt will give the look a different edge that pants do not.
