Midterms: a time before the ever so needed Spring Break, where most Fashionistas/os retire their leisurely study habits and pick up their textbooks for one last week of immense studying before packing their bags. With countless hours spent in the library, most Fashionistas find dressing for comfort surpassing the need to dress to impress. Embracing the tease of warm weather seems to be the trend for this season, but with most times spent indoors with books, how is any girl or guy expected to look their best and pass the test?
I caught this Fashionista on a study break near the library. With the snow melting, L.L.Bean boots were an obvious choice to take on the slush that was left behind by the harsh New England winter. Colored, in this case maroon, leggings add some flare to a comfortable look. This makes any look more put together and exciting while never sacrificing the comfort that the library calls for. With black being a safe neutral to add to any look, this Fashionista sports a black top to bring the whole look together.
As for the centerpiece of the look, kimonos have been rising in popularity since they first hit stores late last fall. By doubling as a play on a cardigan and a fashion-forward opportunity to add a print into a look, the kimono has given Fashionistas a new chance to style their own looks. With florals being obviously in for spring, this Fashionista pulled colors from her leggings in order to bring it all together. With the addition of simple monogrammed silver jewelry, there was nothing that said lazy library day in this girl’s look.
One Simple Change: Time for a lunch date in between study sessions? Take this look up a notch by adding a statement necklace with colors from the kimono! Blues, reds or purples can brighten a look up more than you think.
