WHAT TO WEAR: School Spirited DIY

I cannot fully celebrate the fall season without a cozy knit sweater, pumpkin spice lattes, my favorite blanket scarf, scented candles burning and of course tailgating for my school’s football team. Nothing makes me like fall even more than being with my family and friends tailgating and cheering on my school in the crisp autumn weather, and what better way to do that than get showing off the latest trends and incorporating that into tailgate attire?

This Fashionista crafted her own DIY project, that incorporated the lace-up trend into her tailgating gear for the fall. If you want an affordable and trendy way to show off your tailgate gear then this DIY project is the perfect one to dive into! The materials this Fashionista used were a graphic, school spirit T-shirt, black cloth for the trim, silver eyelets, a hot glue gun, a pair of scissors and a thin black string small enough to fit in the eyelet.

Lay the T-shirt out facing away from you, and place a hard surface inside the T-shirt for more precision (a piece of cardboard, a thick magazine, etc). Cut out a triangle around the neck line until the end of the collar bone–go deeper if you want. Cut holes into the black trim and outside of the triangle for the eyelets to fit into. Hot glue gun the black trim onto the triangle, and wait for it to dry before lacing the thin black cloth. For the finishing touch for this DIY, the Fashionista used scissors to cut the bottom of the shirt to resemble a crop top.

This Fashionista paired her DIY cropped, graphic lace-up T-shirt with a black lacy bralette, distressed black denim, classic black and white converse and accessorized the look with blue aviator sunglasses. This look is an inexpensive way to incorporate fall trends into the football season attire or create a rad DIY project to spice up your wardrobe of old graphic T-shirts.
