Spring has fully sprung, which means the season of skirts and dresses is in full swing. What I love about this season is that the pieces can either be really spring-y and have bright colors and florals, or they can still resemble the cold weather with dark hues and subtle patterns. Jonathan Simkhai incorporated both into his spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection; the models donned bright blue matching sets as well as monochrome ensembles that would be perfect in anyone’s wardrobe.
This Fashionista took Simkhai’s route and opted for a black maxi that served as the canvas of the outfit. She was able to mix and match other components of her outfit given the simplicity of her skirt. Although it’s spring the temperatures are still a little chilly, this Fashionista chose a sweater crop top, another trend inspired by Simkhai. For extra warmth and to contrast the monochrome sweater and maxi, this Fashionista added a medium wash denim jacket which is perfect for awkward in-between weather.
This outfit is ideal for the weekend because it’s casual enough to wear to the mall, but dressy enough to wear out to dinner. Day to night outfits like this are extremely versatile and helpful for those who don’t have time to change when going from place to place! I know for me, when I go out on the weekends, I make sure to have an outfit I’ll be comfortable in all day and into the night.
One Simple Change: If you’re going to a more formal event, or if you just enjoy wearing fancy shoes, definitely switch casual sandals for wedges or flatforms. This little adjustment can go a long way if you’re looking to enhance your outfit!
