WHAT TO WEAR: Summer

The sun is shining, the weather is warming and shorts have finally emerged from the depths of our sweater-filled closets. With classes wrapping up for the break and the few extra hours of daylight, the nights ahead are sure to be filled with summer activities. Whether you’re camping out with your fellow Style Gurus by the fire or attending an outdoor concert, everyone needs a go-to summer evening outfit. Unfortunately we can’t all be coastal beach bunnies, so it’s good to always be prepared for the cool summer nights spent roasting marshmallows and making memories.

Just because you live in a cooler climate doesn’t mean you have to give up your summer style when the sun starts to set. My favorite pieces for these kinds of nights are ones that are quick and easy to throw on while still being trendy enough to show up great in your bonfire photos later. Use pieces such as jumpers, overalls and maxi dresses that you can quickly change into after a day hiking or hanging at the beach.

This month’s Fashionista curated a perfect outfit for all your summer evening occasions. She is wearing vintage Calvin Klein overalls that cover her entire legs. The coverage provides her with a block from the wind and those pesky mosquitoes that are out to ruin our summer, while also being baggy and comfortable. The off-the-shoulder black crop top not only has a neckline that flatters the cut of the overalls but it also gives you the option to layer, depending on the temperature.

To accessorize this look, and take it from “camping” to “glamping” this Fashionista chose a pair of saddle shoes and a black bandana. The bandana is one of my absolute favorite trends in accessories, they are popping up on so many celebrities at different summer festivals and events. They are the perfect easy camping accessory since they can be tied in so many different ways. You can tie them into a choker necklace, on your wrist, or in your hair to style your messy outdoor locks.

One Simple Change: To take this look from nighttime to day time, opt for a pair of short overalls or romper. You can still use your crop top and bandana, but swap the saddle shoes for a pair of light sneakers for a more casual look.
