Summer days used to mean less is more as far as clothing, between shorts, tank tops and anything else to keep us cool. However, summer fashion is starting to take a page from fall’s handbook to include layers. It sounds unbearable but summer layers are perfect for easy, breezy and warm days.
This Fashionista nailed her summer layers by keeping each layer light and airy. What initially caught my eye was the elongated knot of the tunic at her waist which allows the detail of her under dress to show through. Beneath her purple-hued tunic is a semi-sheer white dress. The playfulness of the asymmetrical hem of the dress balances out the three-quarter length sleeve of the tunic. Additionally, the structured nature of the tunic is broken up by the by the movement and alternating sheerness of the dress.
This Fashionista keeps her accessories simple as well. Mirroring the lightness of her summer layers, she pairs her look with silver jewelry like silver band rings and an assortments of silver earrings. It’s not summer without the perfect pair of sandals— her neutral Birkenstock sandals work with any summer look. Plus, they are extremely comfortable to wear for long periods of time which is great for a walk in the park or running errands.
Summer layers are definitely going to be a go-to look this summer. Not only is it easy to recreate with your favorite brands but it’s adaptable and transitional for whatever crazy adventures summer may bring. Mix and match your own tunics and dresses to get this Fashionista’s layered look.
One Simple Change: If you are loving this summer look as much as I do, transition it in to cold weather with ease. Add opaque black tights and exchange the Birkenstock sandals for tall black boots. Now you’re ready for a fall football game or a chilly winter bonfire.
