The Art Institute of St. Louis doesn’t necessarily have any kind of sports teams, but we celebrate the St. Louis Sports, like the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. Last Monday was Opening Day–the first game of the year. In St. Louis we praise the Cardinals, and whenever there is a game, everyone comes to work or school wearing either the color red or one of their favorite player’s jersey. At the Art Institute, there were many students who represented their love for the team.
Here is a Fashionista who loves the Cardinals, but “fashion is life” (her words, not mine). This Fashionista sported a St. Louis Cardinals jersey-like shirt; it is perfect to represent the best team ever. She couldn’t help herself and decided to pair the shirt with a high-waisted jean skirt that she got from a thrift store, making the fashion statement that fashion and sports can be paired great together. To accessorize, our sporty Fashionista grabbed her nude open toe booties, a key necklace, her favorite wristlet and sunglasses.
This look is perfect to wear to a tailgating party, if you aren’t going to opening day game on the field. Our Cardinal lover pulled this look to pair both sporty and fashion. It is best to be simple with pairing two unlikely themes together because you don’t want to overdo it.
One Simple Change: The Cardinals won! However, you want to dress this down for class. Switch out your nude heels for a pair of tennis shoes that still fit the red and white color scheme. Try a pair of classic Converse high-tops to wear. You are now comfortable, but ready to have fun.
