School spirit? Yeah, I never really had any. Each year, high school homecoming would roll around and I would be the girl wearing all black and maybe a school spirited ribbon tied in my hair. It is safe to say I never had a chance at winning Most Spirited. I experienced a shift when I entered my freshman year of college at Florida State University. I was suddenly surrounded by thousands of peers who were completely devoted to the university. Seminoles eat, breathe and sleep school spirit and their enthusiasm began to rub off on me. I am one who enjoys subtlety, so the idea of painting my whole body garnet and gold made me extremely anxious. I needed to dredge up a tactic that worked well with my style while still encapsulating the spirit of FSU. After three years of attending this phenomenal school, I have concocted a foolproof method to acing game day fashion. It’s all in the accessories.
This Fashionista’s tailgate attire completely embodies the Seminole spirit without looking campy. The base of her look, a pair of tattered black jeans and a white crocheted camisole, are simple yet versatile. The pieces can be dressed up or down and act as a blank canvas for the accessories. Around her neck, she wore a layered gold chain necklace. The dainty piece of jewelry is subtle (my fav) but pays homage to the school’s colors. Take a closer look and you can find another piece of jewelry that plays the same role. Her garnet and gold ring is tasteful and spirited.
How could I not talk about her rad gold purse? I’m not sure if she purchased the piece specifically for game days, but it is the perfect accessory, nonetheless. Aside from the awesome pop of color, the bag is the perfect size for a long day of tailgating. Practical and precious. Her earrings are the icing on the cake. Seminoles? Gold spears? It doesn’t get any better than that.
One Simple Change:Â As the football season draws to an end the weather begins to dip. Those hot, sweaty football tailgates quickly turn into cold, goose bump worthy tailgates. No worries. Add an oversized denim jacket to shield you from the blustery weather and to make you look extra rad.
