WHAT TO WEAR: Tailgating

When most people think of tailgating they think of students dressed head to toe in school apparel, but the SEC likes to change things up. Football season at South Carolina means tailgates, rivalries and sandstorms, but most importantly, dresses.

I know, I know, wearing a dress to a tailgate is too much effort and no one has time to look that good, especially for a noon game. Well, when the temperatures reach 100 degrees you’ll be thankful your dress has breathing room. Not to mention, getting dressed in the morning is way easier when you wear the same outfit every Saturday and no one even thinks twice about it.

Since our school colors are garnet and black, black dresses are almost always the outfit of choice. This establishes the perfect canvas for some school spirit and almost any trend you can think of. Weather you go for the T-shirt dress, an open back, cut outs, whatever, you can never go wrong with a little black dress.

This Fahionista chose a simple, black shift dress with lace detail and some cowboy boots (another a USC gameday staple). She adds some interest with a face tattoo and tops it off with a neutral cross-body purse that is perfect for holding all your tailgating essentials while still not being too bulky.

One Simple Change: When football season ends and winter begins, it doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to dresses. Add a chunky oversized sweater and some knee-high boots to make this look ready for the cold.
