Summer is here and that means it’s time for one of my favorite activities: having fun in the sun. From picnics to pool days, the possibilities are endless when it comes to what you can do outside in nice weather. This Fashionista was on her way to the beach in the Windy City and was dressed perfectly for a fun summer vacation.
I identify strongly with this Fashionista’s sense of style because even though the temperature is hot, she has found a way to incorporate her love for dark colors—just as I try to do every day. Her monochromatic look is gorgeous and, while it is all-black, it is still flowy and allows a flow of air so that she doesn’t get overheated in the sun.
She is wearing a nylon skater dress over her bathing suit as a cover-up for the time she will spend walking down to the water. The Fashionista pairs her dress with a black floppy hat to protect her face from the sun. Since she is about to lay out in the sun, she keeps her accessories limited to just the hat because who wants unnecessary tan lines? On her feet she wears super trendy lace-up black flats that she is sure to remove before stepping in the sand.
Finally, she keeps her makeup simple with an exquisite black-winged eyeliner. This Fashionista has her hair in two long braids to keep her hair contained and out of the way of the wind at the beaches of Chicago.
One Simple Change: Throw on a denim jacket and swap out the lace-up flats for a pair of heels and you can quickly change from a day at the beach to a night out on the town.
