When we’re not swimming at Stroud’s Run (the local lake) or hiking on one of the many trails that surround the Hocking, Ohio area, we OU Bobcats do know a thing or two about going out in style. In fact, along the infamous Court Street, there are quite a few quaint and stylish boutiques. Plus, a little over an hour north from Hocking, is Buckeye territory—home to urban clothing shops that have the fresh, hipster-esque looks so appealing to those of us millennials who crave crop tops and high-waisted cut-off shorts when the weather heats up.
That is just the vibe Fashionista pictured expressed: A fresh-but-boho look, featuring (with her Forever 21 high-waisted cotton shorts) just a hint of prep. Pairing clean-cut shorts with her boho-inspired off-the-shoulder blouse, she perfectly pulled together an outfit which demonstrated being preppy and hipster don’t have to mutually exclusive. In fact, pairing preppy with boho pieces make for a stand-out outfit—which is why this look wonderfully works for a weekend shopping trip, a movie date or even brunch with your family, friends or bae. With its flexibility to be an all-encompassing ultimate weekend outfit, this look demonstrated you really can have the best of both worlds *cue Hannah Montana*.
Following through with her outfit’s mix-and-match vibe, this Fashionista paired her shorts with a brown belt (who said brown and black don’t compliment each other?), added a few personal jewelry pieces (pro-tip: to pop more of the boho side, adding different sized rings creates a more fantastical appearance), and straightened her hair (which stayed together fabulously under the Ohio heat).
One Simple Change: Here, our Fashionista is sporting a classic leather Fossil purse. However, if you yourself want to wear this outfit shopping or out for mimosas with the ladies, then you may want to bring along a mini cross-body. Depending on the color of the purse you bring, detail shoes and belt accordingly—something which this Fashionista has done a wonderful job of.
