So, it’s Tuesday. Though not quite as dreadful as waking up on a Monday morning, Tuesdays still leave me needing coffee and plenty of mental motivation. Don’t get me wrong, I love being busy—heading to class, hitting the library and swinging by a meeting or two before heading home is not frowned upon. However, in the winter, when there are freezing cold temperatures and walking around campus requires hopping over snow piles and occasionally losing your balance on a slippery spot of ice, I can’t help but look forward to the weekend. Weekends mean grabbing brunch with friends, going ice skating and having movie nights—all is right with the world. Your time spent outdoors doesn’t involve a heavy backpack, and you don’t have to worry about falling and having to embarrassingly explain to your lab partner why your pants are soaked.
On that note, as I dream of what this weekend will bring, I thought I would throw it back to this past weekend when I saw this Fashionista modeling a lovely, laid back ensemble. I am completely obsessed with her pairing of a black and white, tribal patterned maxi skirt and mint sweater. On her feet, she wears tan wedges. Her outfit is perfect for grabbing some Saturday afternoon lunch with friends at a cute cafe downtown.
Why is the maxi skirt and sweater combination such a winner? Because it’s cute, casual, comfortable and most importantly, warm. Who says you can’t wear some leggings and tall socks underneath? To prepare yourself for your upcoming weekend activities, I suggest pairing this long sweater from Zara with this fun, patterned Free People skirt.
One Simple Change: This outfit can go from “casual lunch with friends” to “night out with the girls” by simply replacing the longer sweater with a long sleeve crop top.
