The days are longer, the sun is hotter and there’s nothing quite like catching some vitamin D on the quad between classes. Spring is in the air, and with the splendid weather, us Fashionistas/os really count down from Monday to Friday each week, waiting for those days we can fully spend outside. With those treasured weekend days comes brunch, exploring the city, catching an afternoon baseball game and anything that floats your boat. So what to wear on these weekend excursions?
This Fashionista sports a rad outfit for relaxation. Though neutral, the different pieces pop out, thanks to the pattern play of stripes against plaid. The fact that she has paired a loose tank top with an oversized button-down tied around the waist makes this ensemble especially versatile. It’s Jean Paul Gaultier’s “le male” in feminized sailing prep meets Tai’s workout attire for “Buns of Steel” in Clueless—the waist plaid was a big thing in the ’90s. These two tops along with a solid cigarette pant, slip-on sneakers and lots of delicate jewelry all add up to a perfect weekend ensemble.
The accessories in this ensemble stand out. This Fashionista’s retro laptop case is a burst of color. She is toting a MacBook Air (I need to get me one of those). It is the perfect size to carry around if one decides to work on some assignments, say, in between naps in the park. Her layered necklaces and matching silver star pieces just add to the ensemble. With a pair of sunnies, this Fashionista is ready for the weekend.
One Simple Change: Take this look into the next season. Swap out the slim-leg pants for a pair of jean shorts or breezy beach pants when that hot summer sun shows up.
