As the end of the workweek rolls around on Friday, all we can think about is what type of festivities will be going on that night, along with Saturday and Sunday. For some, this may mean waiting until the late afternoon. Luckily, most of us fashion interns get the chance to welcome in the weekend early, thanks to summer Fridays. When 1:00 p.m. comes into play, I’m already envisioning what outfits to wear for a casual weekend.
This Fashionista and I have the same mindset when it comes to staying chic, but cozy. With the mix of warm and cool colors, her outfit was a standout without overdoing it. I used to think that Ohio weather was unpredictable, but as I’ve been living in New York City, it’s almost like I never moved. One day it’s sticky humid and then the next I’m frantically looking for a jacket. This Fashionista came prepared, mixing seasons, yet still staying comfortable while going for a stroll.
Her light blue knit sweater is perfect to keep her comfortable in the blasting air conditioning in a café or if she’s walking near Chelsea Pier, while there’s a cool breeze. Another great thing about her sweater is although it is slightly chunky, it’s light enough to be worn during cooler summer days. Her light brown shorts add even more comfort and ease to this look and go perfectly with her sweater. I remember growing up and having family members tell me that white goes with everything. Taking this mindset and using it, her white Keds add a classic touch, along the accent of her watch. Her cobalt blue cross-body bag is a great component in tying this look together. With a look incorporating a number of colors, it stands out, but is not overwhelming.
Whether you’re having a picnic in Central Park, going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art or shopping at numerous shops and markets, this ensemble is so versatile for any weekend activity.
One Simple Change: Have plans to grab dinner or dessert with the boy you met at the coffee shop? Substitute the white canvas sneakers for a simple pair of wedges, and you’ll have a perfect casual date night ensemble!
